Snorkel Expands Open Benchmarks Grants 10x to $30M, Launches a Benchmark Red Team

As models outpace the tests meant to measure them, Snorkel is committing $30M to independent evaluation and standing up a dedicated red team against benchmark gaming.

Snorkel AI is expanding its Open Benchmarks Grants program tenfold to a $30 million commitment, and launching both an Open Benchmarks Red Team and a Snorkel Research Fellowship, according to @SnorkelAI. The move responds to a problem that has quietly become urgent: benchmarks are lagging frontier capabilities, and the risk of "benchmaxxing" — optimizing models to score well on tests rather than to be genuinely capable — is rising.
