IBM released Granite 4.2 in 3B, 8B, and 30B sizes under Apache 2.0 with native reasoning aimed squarely at unglamorous enterprise agent work.

IBM shipped Granite 4.2 in three sizes — 3B, 8B, and 30B parameters — all under an Apache 2.0 license, according to @FadyEid. The models were trained on roughly 15 trillion tokens with a 512K context window, and the design intent is clearly enterprise rather than benchmark glory. As @marcopapa99 put it, Granite 4.2 adds native reasoning for enterprise agents, with the smaller models 'aimed at unglamorous production use.'
