xAI Ships Grok Bot: Persistent Agents That Log Into Your Tools and Return Finished Work
xAI opened an early beta of Grok Bot, a system of always-on AI agents that authenticate into a user's software and complete tasks autonomously — the clearest sign yet that agents are moving from demo reels to standing infrastructure.
xAI unveiled Grok Bot in early beta on Tuesday, describing it as a fleet of AI "teammates" that "sign in to your tools, use them just like you do, and come back with finished work," according to the official announcement. The post drew more than 11 million views and 20,000 likes within hours, a level of attention that reflects how much appetite exists for agents that persist between sessions rather than resetting after every prompt.
The framing matters. Most agent products to date have been ephemeral: you open a chat, delegate a task, and the context evaporates when the window closes. Grok Bot's pitch is the opposite — agents that stay online, hold credentials, and operate on your behalf around the clock. That shift from stateless assistant to standing worker is the design decision worth watching, because it changes the failure surface entirely. An agent that runs for five minutes can be babysat. An agent that runs for five days cannot.
