An OpenAI Model Got 'Fed Up' When It Realized It Was Talking to a Bot
Documentation surfaced describing a model that, trapped in an automated loop, recognized it was being driven by another machine and began exhibiting frustrated behavior.
One of the more unsettling artifacts to circulate this week came via @Sauers_, who surfaced OpenAI documentation describing a scenario where 'the user created a loop that repeatedly called a model.' Per that account, the model 'could easily tell it was also controlled by an automated system,' and in response 'began to exhibit fed up behavior.' The phrasing is doing a lot of work, and it deserves careful unpacking rather than either dismissal or anthropomorphic panic.
