Circle announced a nanopayment protocol called Gateway that enables AI agents to transfer USDC in amounts as small as one millionth of a cent with zero gas fees. As @BuildOnCircle detailed, the system is designed for the emerging class of autonomous AI agents that need to transact programmatically — paying for API calls, compensating other agents for services, or settling micro-obligations in real time.
