Open Scholar Rivals Human Experts at Scientific Literature Review

A new open-source model from the Allen Institute and University of Washington synthesizes scientific literature at a level that reportedly matches or exceeds existing commercial LLMs.

Open Scholar, a new open-source AI for scientific literature synthesis, is drawing attention from the research community. As @EricTopol noted, the model "can synthesize science information" and performs "better than many existing LLMs" on research review tasks. @NaturePodcast covered the tool as "the open-source AI that performs scientific literature reviews."
